PERSONAL INFORMATION
Vivian B. Lord has been an associate professor of the Department of Criminal Justice since July, 1999. Previously she was a training department manager and instructor of the North Carolina Justice Academy, a division of the North Carolina Department of Justice from 1976-1994. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1975 with a B.A. is Sociology, received her M.A. in Criminal Justice Administration from Goddard College (1979), and Ph.D. (1992) in Psychology from North Carolina State University. She obtained her license as a Practicing Psychologist from the North Carolina Psychology Board in 1994. 
Her research areas include selection and training of law enforcement officers both in the United States and other countries, workplace violence, occupational stress, and hetero-suicide. She has provided consultation to law enforcement departments in areas of officer selection, hetero-suicide ("suicide by cop"), and stress management. In addition, she has consulted and trained managers in governmental agencies and private corporations in the area of workplace violence.
